I’ve been fascinated by storms, even after surviving one as a child in my hometown of St. Louis. I’m a storm spotter for the U.S. National Weather Service. I’ve taken some incredible pics of lightning and cloud formations. But my favorite weather phenomenon is the tornado, popularly known as a cyclone or a twister in the Victorian era. One of the deadliest happened right here in St. Louis on May 27, 1896.
