Boston Metaphysical Society Comic Turns American History on Its Head

BURBANK, CA.  Madeleine Holly-Rosing, writer/creator of the comic Boston Metaphysical Society announced the launch of her campaign to fund the printing of her next graphic novel, Boston Metaphysical Society: The Book of Demons.   It is a 41 page story in a 48 page perfect bound book which continues the original six issue mini-series. “It has been a joy to continue the adventures of these characters,” Ms. Holly-Rosing commented. “Though I did want people to know that though The Book of Demons can be read as a standalone, it is a continuation of our previous story, Ghosts and Demons.”

With art and colors by Gwynn Tavares and lettering by Troy Peteri, in this story Caitlin, the medium and spirit photographer is kidnapped by a Great House to hunt down demons and enslave them. “I wanted to delve deeper into the history of demons in my alternate history of the United States. It was also a great opportunity to solidify Alma, an African-American scientist, as a regular part of the team.”

Ms. Holly-Rosing brings her background of TV and feature film writing to the world of comics along with a love of history and science fiction. The comic began online six years ago and went to print with a special 24 page edition a year later. The original series received an Honorable Mention at the 2013 Geekie Awards and was nominated for Best Comic/Graphic Novel in 2014. It has also been consistently nominated for best webcomic by the Steampunk Chronicles Readers’ Choice Awards in 2013, 2014 and 2015.  The complete series is now available in trade paperback from Source Point Press along with the previous standalone stories, The Scourge of the Mechanical Men, The Spirit of Rebellion, and Ghosts and Demons.

Ms. Holly-Rosing is a veteran of Kickstarter having successfully funded the last six campaigns for this series and surpassed her last funding goal of $4850 to print Ghosts and Demons by over 300% with 621 backers.

The Book of Demons Kickstarter will end on April 29 and has a funding goal of $4200. For more information, please visit the Kickstarter page or http://www.bostonmetaphysicalsociety.com
