Anyone following the Journal on Twitter will see the occasional retweet for a craft fair at the Barnsley Civic in Yorkshire. This November, they’re holding a special festive version for the build up to Christmas and they wanted me to let you know about it.

The Civic is an art space in Barnsley, located on Hanson Street in the city, near St Mary’s Church. While being a modern looking building, it has a backdrop of a very old city which remains close to it’s industrial roots. The Apothecarium is a market place specialising in gothic, steampunk, geek and alternative looks. Confirmed traders so far include Skulls, Bones & Candles and Gothic Fallen Angel. In the past, Black Sails, Edna’s Lair, Yorkshire Cosplay Con, Brierley Bears, Pawfect Fit, Dark Dagger Co., Jackerdemalion Design and Strange Brew Soap have all made appearances.  If it’s anything like last year, over a hundred people reportedly went and there was a lot of things going on including music and dancing.

Should you decide to go and have a look around, it’s free entry and you may just find that elusive gift for the geek in the family.

The Festive Apothecarium is on Saturday, 28 November 2014 at 10:00–16:00

The Civic’s address is Hanson Street, S70 2HZ Barnsley or you can find out more on the Apothecarium Facebook page.
