Ever since steampunk and Dr Who existed together, the T.A.R.D.I.S and Sonic Screwdrivers have been given steampunk redesigns or worked into corsets and accessories.
There could be a little friction between the ranks now though as Jenna Coleman, the current companion of the Twelfth Doctor and arguably the one with the most interesting back story, is rumoured to be leaving the long running BBC science fiction show to play Queen Victoria in a new £10 million ITV drama. The programme will replace Downton Abbey when the popular drama concludes later this year.
According to a report in The Mirror, Coleman will play the legendary monarch through her early years as Queen. It has been suggested that Coleman was to be leaving the show for some time, but the Christmas Special in 2014 confirmed that she’d stay on for at least another series. The BBC have yet to comment, so at this point it’s all speculation.
