Steampunk Journal - The best steampunk news, reviews, articles and guides
You may remember that back in March 2016 I reported on Universal Orlando‘s bold plans for a steampunk themed chocolate factory and restaurant.
The restaurant is still taking shape and as more information is becoming available, we’ve already seen previews from it surface online. The restaurant has been given a full titled name which is the jaw wobbling Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen. It’s also been revealed that there will be two characters to help you throughout your dining experience:
- Doctor Penelope Tibeaux-Tinker Toothsome: She’s a travelling British lady who has settled at the Emporium and has a vast knowledge of chocolate from her global travels.
- Jaques is a male robot and companion to Penelope.
Due to open on September 22nd, the restaurant will offer various meals that have their own twist on them and generally include chocolate. As the Universal website says “Coffee and Chocolate Stout Chicken Wings, Chocolate Almond Bread and Chocolate Gnocchi are just a sample of the adventurously unique items available.”
Personally I’m not entirely sure how that chocolate Gnocchi is going to pan out. However, I’m a firm believer that as long you like the taste of ingredients, they should taste nice together. Hopefully Steampunk Journal is looking to visit Florida in the next 12 months so we can sample the restaurant. For research purposes, obviously.
Toothsome sweet tooth
There are also a number of milkshakes available such as Chocolate x5, Bacon Brittle and Red Velvet. For those of you who still have space after a meal, you could indulge in a sundae. S’mores, Salted Caramel Flan and Chocolate Brownie Bark are all options.
The outside of the restaurant is designed like a 19th century/Willy Wonka factory. It features smoke stacks, copper pipes, pointless twisting things and gears.
