If you’re in the area on the 18th and 19th March 2017, then you should drop in to the Iron Horse Family Steampunk Carnivale. It’s happening at the Orange Empire Railway Museum. You may remember we reported on a previous event that happened there in mid-January. You can view it here: Behind the Scenes event
While the Behind the Scenes event was a chance to turn up in 19th century clothing, the Iron Horse Carnivale is a full-blown steampunk event. There will be chances again to ride on the locomotives and trolleys. There’s also a bustling market selling artisan steampunk gifts such as jewellery, contraptions and gadgets. There will be a steampunk fashion show as well as several craft workshops to improve your making skill.
If that wasn’t enough, there’s also some live steampunk entertainment, panels and children’s activities. Aside from the events that will be happening as part of the Carnivale, for an additional fee, you can visit the Fred Harvey museum for Afternoon Tea. Should you wish to partake in the delicate consumption of oriental infusions, admission is $12.00 for age 12 and over or $10.00 for ages 2-11.
Iron Horse Family Steampunk Carnivale details:
Admission to the Carnivale is 10-5pm each day. It costs $15.00 for ages 12 and up, $10.00 for 5-11, while under 4 go free. Museum members do get concessions of $8 12 and over or $5 for age 5-11.
It’s not everyday you get to spend your time in the company of true Locomotives. Especially ones that are from the actual time period were we draw our inspiration from. It will be great to get out there, put on your top hat, corset and goggles and stroll around like you own the place.
