Many many wonderful steampunk names are involved in the April Steampunk Giveaway

April marks the 30th year since the term “steam punk” was used in a note to Locus magazine in 1987 from author KW Jeter. He wanted play on the current popularity of cyberpunk and exchanging the cyber for steam was a tongue in cheek way of utilising it. However, it caught on. Now fast forward 30 years and it’s one of the largest science fiction based subcultures in the world.

In order to celebrate the anniversary of the word “steampunk” coming into existence, Steampunk Journal has teamed up with dozens of artists, authors, photographers, models, makers and musicians to bring you a bumper month long giveaway!

When I decided to mark the 30th anniversary with a month long giveaway, I approached various creative minds asking for them to donate a little something to the pot. I was thinking a small token such as a CD single download or a photograph download or an ebook. What I have received far surpasses anything I could have expected. In fact on some days I’m having to double up! The generosity that prevails in this subculture community that we love so very much amazes me almost on a daily basis. This giveaway couldn’t be made possible without the generosity of the artists, musicians and authors listed below. I would really appreciate it if you would click on each link and support them on social media.

What to do

Everyday through April, we will pick an email address at random to win the prize for that day. You have to be in it to win it, though, so make sure you’ve registered your email address on this page here: Subscribe to the Steampunk Journal*

The more people that want to be involved the better, so if you’d like to donate something to giveaway and have loads of exposure for your company, then email matt@steampunkjournal.org. We’re more than happy to double up so that winners get even more!
