Read my Review of Around the World in 80 Days Fun Facts and Context Le Tour du monde en quatre-vingts jours was Jules Verne’s 11th novel. Like many of its time, it was first presented in a serialized format before it was compiled into a book (1873). The illustrations were by Alphonse de Neuville, a French painter known for his depictions of the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871). Verne served in the Franco-Prussian War.
