As punks, we’re all accustomed to breaking the rules; not conforming to what those rum coves in office say we have to do! One thing I’m proud of as a dweller of Sheffield is that it has the only building in the UK that has an ASBO. Simply because ASBO’s are only for people and this broke conformity. Thankfully, the nightclub has since closed, but the sense of obscure pride is still there.

Over in Rutherford, NJ, the newspaper “South Bergenite” has named an entire museum and it’s staff Person of the Year. Meadowlands museum has hosted a successful steampunk exhibition called Alternative Reality: Steampunk & the Victorian Age which documented and explained the real life connections to the sub-culture.

The exhibition also displayed creations from tinkerers of today including Heather H Hutsell and Corvus Creations.

Currently, the museum has a themed exhibition on the Jules Verne novel Around the World in 80 Days. It covers the journey that Phileas Fogg took as well as Victorian modes of transport, clothing and items from the places they travelled. The exhibition runs until the end of January 2015.
